Imagine waking up in your room at the "Estalagem Porto Antigo" to a stunning view of the River Douro in the beautiful country of Portugal. A few steps from the lobby, your Nelo boat awaits you for another fulfilling day of training on the water.

Team Nelo traveled around the world visiting canoe and kayak training centers. Still, we knew in our hearts that Portugal could offer the very best service to individual customers and teams for racing and touring, and one region came to mind: Douro, the second oldest defined and protected wine region in the world, located just one hour from Porto and other small cities.





These famous vineyards are nourished by the dry, mild and low-winded climate- the perfect conditions for training and developing world-class athletes. Our guests gasp at the 50-mile stretch of breathtaking water, where we are assembling a brand new 1000-meter one-lane course.

With the Nelo factory and international headquarters just an hour away, we are able to provide specific equipment and services such as fitting, testing, and other technical assistance to the athletes. The concentration of athletes at the nearby training camp in turn provides us with direct feedback and other information on our kayaks.





Throughout your stay, you will enjoy use of a gym built specifically with the intent of receiving canoeing athletes, the pool, and three complete meals a day. One guest once referred to the food as one of "the nicest meals that we had during our two week tour of Portugal and Spain."





The training center had to meet standards that were high enough for us to put the Nelo name on. Providing athletes with a tranquil, unspoiled haven for training, we believe it does.
